The School Psychology Training Program has a long history of excellence. Developed in the early 1960s, it was the first program in Washington State, the first to adopt full year internships, the first to receive NASP approval in 1989 and the only program in the state to secure paid internships for all students. The Department of Psychology has 23 FTE faculty members, over 200 undergraduate majors, and over 100 graduate majors in mental health counseling, school counseling, school psychology, and experimental psychology. The department has a strong commitment to increasing the diversity of its faculty and student body. All university faculty are expected to practice effective teaching, conduct scholarly activity, and perform professional and community service.
RESPONSIBILITIES Applicants for this position should be prepared to: a) serve as the program director for the School Psychology Training Program b) teach a range of undergraduate psychology courses, c) teach core graduate courses in school psychology including Intellectual, Academic & Social Emotional Assessment, Consultation and Educational Psychology, and d) serve on master’s thesis committees. All faculty in the Department of Psychology are expected to have: a) a commitment to scholarly activity, b) the ability to establish a productive research program, and c) the ability and interest in mentoring student research at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Minimum Qualification: An earned doctorate in school psychology or a closely related field with eligibility for certification as a school psychologist by September 15, 2009. Prior university teaching experience is required.
Preferred Qualification: Preference will be given to those applicants who have previous graduate level teaching experience in a school psychology program as well as certification and experience as a school psychologist in the public school setting.
Salary Range: Dependent on qualifications and experience.
Employment Conditions:
Pursuant to contract negotiations by the United Faculty of Central and Central
Washington University, employment conditions are subject to collective bargaining.
