What is the purpose of Emergency Management?
Central Washington University is committed to protecting the safety and security of our community. Emergencies, disasters, accidents, injuries and crimes can occur without warning at any time. The Department of Public Safety & Police Services has primary responsibility for emergency management on campus, and the safety of every member of the university community is of utmost importance to us.
Central Washington University has an all hazards response plan that has been in place for several years. In 2008, Lt. Mike Luvera was hired by the CWU Police Department as an Emergency Management Coordinator. Currently, Lt. Luvera chairs the Emergency Management Committee which is a cross-section of university personnel. This committee is responsible for analysis, evaluation, and recommendations to improve CWU’s capability in mitigating against, preparing for, responding to and recovering from disasters or critical incidents.
The Emergency Management Committee and CWU want to remind our community that being prepared to handle hazards is an individual and an organizational responsibility. We hope that you access and review the information provided within this website to better prepare your self for potential emergencies that may occur. If you have questions, suggestions, or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
There is currently no emergency.
