![]() Department ObjectivesThe CWU Department of Public Safety and Police Services is committed to fostering the 2001-2006 Central Washington University Strategic Plan as determined by the university's Board of Trustees. In our daily activities, we strive to reflect our commitment to the Strategic Plan by meeting the objectives as outlined below. University Goal I:Provide for an outstanding academic and student life on the Ellensburg campus. Objective:Maintain a safe living and learning environment by partnering with the university community to protect life, prevent crime, and resolve problems. Objective:Continue to provide the highest quality crime prevention educational programming based on a community policing philosophy. Objective:Continue strengthening our leadership in emergency planning and disaster preparedness to enhance the quality of life for students, staff, visitors and the community. University Goal II:Provide for an outstanding academic and student life at the university centers. Objective:Develop a security plan for each of the centers. Objective:Continue to build partnerships with local community resources to deliver quality crime prevention education for each of the centers. Objective:Determine the emergency planning and disaster preparedness needs for each of the centers. University Goal III:Develop a diversified funding base to support our academic and student programs. Objective:Maintain the current level of grant support for equipment and community outreach programs. Objective:Research and develop support from private foundations and additional granting resources. Objective:Increase parking revenue by delivering quality service and reducing costs. University Goal IV:Build mutually beneficial partnerships with industry, professional groups, institutions, and the communities surrounding our campus locations. Objective:Maintain our strong relationship with city county and state law enforcement. Objective:Strengthen our public relations through local media resource development to enhance public confidence and community support. Objective:Maintain our current level of local, state and national partnerships with professional organizations and other institutions to deliver state of the art public safety and emergency services. University Goal V:Strengthen the university position as a leader in education. Objective:Maintain our current level of involvement in all phases of the Law and Justice academic program on campus. Objective:Explore additional partnerships with other campus departments especially International Programs. Objective:Continue to research and provide the highest quality "life skills" programs for students, faculty, staff and the community. University Goal VI:Create and sustain productive, civil, and pleasant campuses and workplaces. Objective:Maintain a strong commitment to our partnership with the Vice President for Student Affairs office in order to resolve campus and community problems. Objective:Enhance current efforts and develop additional opportunities for employee recognition. Objective:Research and develop workplace policies that contribute to the quality of life on campus. |
