Degree Progress (CAPS Reports)
Introduction

The Degree Progress (CAPS) Report is a record of all credits earned to date and the requirements that those credits satisfy toward your Major area of study, Minor area of study and Degree.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS ARE THE ONLY STUDENTS, AT THIS TIME, WHO ARE ABLE TO RECEIVE A CAPS REPORT.

Step 2b: View Degree Progress Report Page (continued)

Before actually generating any CAPS Reports, there are two ideas you should keep in mind:

  • The items that appear in bold-face type on the CAPS Report still have requirements that have not been satisfied. Items that do not appear bold have had all of their requirements satisfied.
  • It is assumed that you are going to pass all classes in which you are currently enrolled. Those classes will, therefore, appear non-bold on your CAPS Report during the term. If, however, you fail a class, then that class will appear in bold on your CAPS Report after final grades have been posted.

  • The Quick What-If Report is used to Simulate a CAPS Report with the criteria you specify. It allows you to "try on" a Major, Minor or Specialization to see how it fits with your current CAPS Report and how it will potentially affect your goal of graduating in a timely manner. You are able to do this without actually having to declare the Major, Minor or Specialization. Again, it is only a simulation and will not affect your actual CAPS Report.

Step 2e: Quick What-If Analysis Report Page

  • Think of the Quick What-If Analysis Report Page as having four rows of information.
  • To generate the Quick What-If CAPS Report, you must fill out the row of information for what you are "trying out" as well as all rows above that row. Be truthful in filling out the first two rows. The system uses the information you enter to grab the requirements that you must meet in order to generate an accurate Quick What-If CAPS Report for you.
    • The first row pertains to your Admit Career and Term.
    • The second row pertains to the Gen Ed Catalog whose requirements you must meet.
    • The third row pertains to the Major and/or Minor you are considering.
    • The fourth row pertains to the Specialization you are considering, if any.
