| Step 1: Navigate to Class Search
- From the Menu Box, navigate to Class Search by clicking on Self Service > Enrollment > Class Search/Browse Catalog .
- Click here to continue.

| Step 2: Select Term for Class Search
- On the Select Term page, the Institution field should default in with Central Washington University. Institution is a required field on this page.
- Select the Term of your choice from the Term dropdown menu. Term is a required field on this page.
- Select the Search for Classes radio button if you wish to search for a class in the Schedule of Classes. Then click the Go button. Click here for directions.
- Select the Browse Catalog radio button if you wish to browse the Course Catalog. Then click the Go button. Click here for directions.

| Step 1a: Search for Classes Page
You have many options available to you on the Search for Classes page.
- An important idea to keep in mind is that you may use any combination of fields on the Search for Classes page to locate the class(es) for which you are searching.
- At any time during your search for classes, you may wipe out all of your search criteria and start over by clicking the CLEAR CRITERIA button at the bottom of the Search for Classes page.

| Step 1b: Search for Classes Page
- To look up a class by Subject Area, select the Subject Area from the Course Subject dropdown menu.
- If you know the exact Course Number of the class, enter it in the Course Number field and allow the default of is exactly from the Course Number dropdown menu.
- If you don't know the exact Course Number of the class, you might try one of the other options from the Course Number dropdown menu in conjunction with a number you enter in the Course Number field. For example, choosing greater than or equal to from the Course Number dropdown menu and then entering 200 in the Course Number field will return all classes that have a Course Number of at least 200 (that also satisfy any other criteria you may have entered in other fields).
- Choose the Course Career that pertains to you from the Course Career dropdown menu, or leave the Course Career field blank.

- Campus is a required field on the Search for Classes page, so make sure that the Campus field displays the Campus through which you are enrolled. If not, choose the correct Campus from the Campus dropdown menu.
- The Show Open Classes Only checkbox defaults to being checked. If you wish to see all classes that meet the criteria you specified, regardless of whether or not the classes still have seats available, then uncheck this checkbox.
- If you are finished entering your search criteria, click the SEARCH button at the bottom of the Search for Classes page. Click here for directions on how to interpret your Class Search Results.

| Step 1d: Search for Classes Page (continued)
You will see additional search options available under the Additional Search Criteria title bar.
- To locate classes that meet within a certain time range, enter that criteria in the Meeting Time fields. For example, entering between 1:00PM and 3:00 PM in the Meeting Time fields will return all classes that meet sometime within the time range specified (and also satisfy any other criteria you may have entered in other fields).
- To locate classes according to the days of the week on which they meet, select the option you desire from the Day of Week dropdown menu, and then check the checkboxes for the days of the week that you would like to include with the option you chose. For example, choosing Exclude Any of These Days from the Day of Week dropdown menu and then checking the checkboxes for Mon, Wed and Fri will return all classes that meet only on Tues and/or Thurs (and also satisfy any other criteria you may have entered in other fields).

- You may also search for a class by the instructor's last name. If you know the exact spelling of the instructor's last name, enter it in the Instructor Last Name field and allow the default of is exactly from the Instructor Last Name dropdown menu.
- If you don't know the exact spelling of the instructor's last name, you might try one of the other options from the Instructor Last Name dropdown menu in conjunction with the letters you enter in the Instructor Last Name field. For example, choosing contains from the Instructor Last Name dropdown menu and then entering entne in the Instructor Last Name field will return all classes taught by an instructor with the characters entne somewhere in his/her last name (that also satisfy any other criteria you may have entered in other fields).
- If you know the 5-digit Class Number for a class, you may quickly locate the class by entering that information into the Class Nbr field.
- If you are finished entering your search criteria, click the SEARCH button at the bottom of the Search for Classes page. Click here for directions on how to interpret your Class Search Results.

- If you aren't sure of the Subject Area for a class, you may try locating the class by using the Course Title Keyword field to enter a keyword that would likely be found in the Description of the class. For example, entering danc in the Course Title Keyword field will return all classes with the characters danc somewhere in their Description, including dance, dancing, etc. (that also satisfy any other criteria you may have entered in other fields).
- If you are finished entering your search criteria, click the SEARCH button at the bottom of the Search for Classes page. Click here for directions on how to interpret your Class Search Results.

Finally, you may search for a class by choosing criteria from any of the bottom four dropdown fields on the Search for Classes page.
- Course Component refers to the type of class it is (i.e. Lecture, Laboratory, etc.).
- Choices for Session include Intensive, Regular Academic Session (normal Fall, Winter and Spring classes as well as full-term Summer classes), Six Week - First (pertains to Summer) or Workshop.
- Mode of Instruction refers to the way the class is taught. Common choices for Mode of Instruction include In Person, ITV/Satellite/Telecast (Sync) or one of the various Web choices.
- If you are searching for a class that meets a particular Gen Ed Requirement you may select the Gen Ed Requirement from the Gen Ed Requirement dropdown menu. Such a search will yield all classes that meet that Gen Ed Requirement (and also satisfy any other criteria you may have entered in other fields).

| Class Search Results |
| Step 1a: Class Search Results Page
The Class Search Results page provides a wealth of information.
- You will find, written in blue below the Class Search Results title, the search criteria you entered that produced the results you are viewing.
- Beneath that you will find a key to reading the page. The key shows the following:
- Green circles indicate that the Status of the class is Open.
- Blue squares indicate that the Status of the class is Closed.
- Orange triangles indicate that the class has gone to a Wait List Status.
- The results, themselves, can be found at the bottom of the page below the blue header.
- Make note of the numbering in the blue header to ensure that you are viewing all sections of the class. For example, if the numbering reads "1-3 of 9," as in the example to the right, then you are only viewing three of the nine sections of the class. To view the rest of the sections, click the View All Sections link in the blue header.

- To get additional information about a particular class section, click on the link for the Section under the blue header.

| Step 2: Class Detail Page
The Class Detail page provides detailed information about the Class Section you chose including:
- Class Details - displays the Status of the class section, the Class Number (needed for registration), the Units, type of class it is (Class Components), Dates of the term (listed as ending the Friday before Finals week), the Grading basis, Location the class meets and Campus through which the class is offered.
- Meeting Information - displays the Days & Times the class meets as well as the Room location, Instructor and Meeting Dates (listed as ending the Friday before Finals week).
- Enrollment Information - displays any Gen Ed Requirements (Requirement Designation) that the class might meet as well as any Class Attributes of the class (i.e. Concurrent enrollment required, Additional fees required, etc.).
- Class Availability - displays all Enrollment and Seating information about the class section.
- Description - displays the long Description of the class.
- When finished with the Class Detail page, click the RETURN TO RESULTS button at the top or bottom of the Class Detail page to return to the Class Search Results page. Click here to return to the directions for Class Search Results.

| Step 1a: Browse Catalog Page
- At any time while you are browsing the Course Catalog, you may choose a new term by clicking the CHANGE TERM button at the top or bottom of the page. Click here to return to the the directions for the Select Term page for Class Search.
- If you would like to view the Registrar's on-line Course Catalog, click on the link that says Take Me to CWU Course Catalogs.
- Safari's Browse Catalog page defaults to displaying the Course Catalog beginning with the courses whose subject areas begin with an "A." To view other courses, simply click on the letter in the Letter Box at the top of the page that corresponds to the letter with which the subject area begins. For example, to view Math courses, click on the "M" in the Letter Box. When the "M" courses display, scroll down the page until you find the subject area of your choice.
- The page also defaults to displaying only Courses With Sections Offered for the term you chose. If you would like to see all courses offered in the academic year that meet the criteria you specify, regardless of whether they have sections offered for the term you chose, click the Show All Courses radio button in the middle of the page.

- To view the Course Catalog Description of a course, click on the link for the course in the Description column of the Browse Catalog page.
Doing so will take you to the Course Detail page for that course. Click here for more information about the Course Detail page.
- To view all sections of a course that are offered in the term you chose, click on the View Class Sections link in the Action column. Doing so will take you to the Class Search Results page for that course. Click here to learn more about the Class Search Results page.
- If you do not see a View Class Sections link, then there are no class sections of that course offered for the term you chose.

| Step 2: Course Detail Page
The Course Detail page provides detailed information about the Course you chose including:
- Course Detail - displays the Units, Grading Basis and type of course it is (Course Components)
- Enrollment Information - displays any Gen Ed Requirements (Requirement Designation) that the course might meet as well as any Course Attributes of the course (i.e. Concurrent enrollment required, Additional fees required, etc.).
- Description - displays the long Description of the course.
- If there are class sections of the course offered for the term you chose, you will see a View Class Sections link at the bottom of the page. Clicking on the link will reveal the Class Search Results page, which will show the class sections offered for the term. Click here to learn about the Class Search Results page.
- When finished with the Course Detail page, click the RETURN button at the bottom of the Course Detail page to return to the Browse Catalog page. Click here to return to the directions for Browse Catalog.

The Class Search Results page provides a wealth of information.
