Introduction

The zoo is a fun and exciting place. There are so many animals to learn about and experience that somtimes it is hard to fit everything into one day. Some of the busiest people on the zoo grounds are the people that take care of the animals, and these people are called zoo keepers. The zoo keepers know the in's and out's of every animal they take care of, and they perform numerous duties throughout the day to take care of these animals. Every animal in the zoo has different needs to live and survive so it is the zoo keepers duty to fulfill these needs.

Task

Your task is to become a zoo keeper for a day and take care of the animals. You will choose your favorite animal from the zoo, then, as that animals zoo keeper you will learn all you can about that animal. You will be responsible for finding out what the animal eats, what kind of habitat they survive best in, and if there are any other needs that this certain animal has like grooming or a special diet. It is your duty to compile all of the information you need to take care of this animal and then draw a picture of your animal in their habitat and then in a few shortt sentences explain how you would take care of your animal and what they would need to survive. When we are completely finished we will compile all of our drawings and information into a zoo keepers manual.

The Process

Here are a list of questions that you will need to answer to fully understand your animal and it's needs:

What does your animal eat?

What environment does your animal live in?

What kind of habitat would be best for your animal?

Why does your animal eat the things that it does?

What are some fun facts about your animal?

What are the hygiene/grooming needs and habits of your animal?

How long and often does your animal need sleep?

Does your animal prefer to be alone or in an enivronment with other animals?

Is your animal suitable to be around kids and people/ is it safe to pet?

Resources

Here are some resources to use to find information on your animals
