Introduction

As every person gets older and prepares to graduate it is extremely important that each person starts planning for the next step. Regardless of your plans after you graduate you will always need to eat. This lesson will help each of you develop the skills to establish a well balanced diet and learn how to shop for the items. You can work with your classmates, but your final product will be completed individually. This WebQuery will have you searching the web to find what makes a well balanced meal and where to shop, and you need to keep in mind that you want to spend the least amount of money. The Big Question that the whole WebQuery is centered around is "What do I eat and where can I find it?"

Task

The end result should be at least a weeks worth of a grocery list with prices (if possible) and meals outlined that include the calories. This can be typed in a word document, on a PowerPoint Slide, or a Brochure. The information needs to be shared in one of the three forms mentioned.

There are some requirements. We will all assume that everyone eats three meals a day and we are planning for a minimum of a week, so we need enough food for one person to eat 21 meals (7 breakfast meals, 7 lunch meals and 7 dinners). You are allowed to have two leftover meals if desired. A leftover meal consists of food left over from a previous meal, but needs to be eaten the day after to avoid the food spoiling. It is also important that you examine the calories each meal has, include this in the finished product.

This task is a:

The Process

Below is a list of generic prompts to support you in devising your own research process. You do not need to answer these questions, they are only here to guide your research.

Resources

Below are places on the Internet that are available for this project. These are just a starting point, it is your choice to research further links. If you choose to use additional links, please include them in your final project. However the links below will provide you with enough information to complete the project and if they are used they will be expected to be included in your final project.

Evaluation

Although you can work with your classmates to complete the research and build your meals, this is an individual project. Each person needs to have an individual final project, either a brochure word document, or a PowerPoint Slide. The end result should be at least a weeks worth of a grocery list with prices (if possible) and meals outlined that include the calories. The projects will be evaluated on whether or not the project met the requirements listed below.
