I know that being a parent can be difficult, use some of these resources and links to eliminate some parenting pressures. Many of these websites are full of great information on difficult topics to discuss with children as well as with current information.

Please use these sites with your children, if you feel they are appropriate.


Here are some great links to some special services available to help families with children who have a disability

Easter SealsEaster Seals provides exceptional services, education, outreach, and advocacy so that people living with autism and other disabilities can live, learn, work and play in our communities.
American Red CrossSince 1881 this organization have been the nation's premier emergency response organization. It offers neutral humanitarian care to the victims of war. The organization has expanded its services, always with the aim of preventing and relieving suffering.
Closing the GapChanging Lives with Assistive Technology: This is an organization that works to focus on provide assistive technology to people with disabilities so that they are able to close the gap between themselves and others without disabilities. It provides bimonthly magazines, international conferences and an extensive website.
National Down Syndrome SocietyThe National Down Syndrome Society is to be the national advocate for the value, acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. The National Down Syndrome Society envisions a world in which all people with Down syndrome have the opportunity to enhance their quality of life, realize their life aspirations, and become valued members of welcoming communities.
American Association on Intellectual and Developmental DisabilitiesAAIDD promotes progressive policies, sound research, effective practices. It also promotes universal human rights for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC)The Arc of the United States advocates for the rights and full participation of all children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Together with our network of members and affiliated chapters, we improve systems of supports and services; connect families; inspire communities and influence public policy.
Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA)Is a voluntary health agency -- a dedicated partnership between scientists and concerned citizens aimed at conquering neuromuscular diseases that affect more than a million Americans. MDA combats neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive medical and community services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. With national headquarters in Tucson, MDA has more than 200 offices across the country, sponsors 215 hospital-affiliated clinics and supports nearly 400 research projects around the world.
National Education for Assistive Dog Service (NEADS)NEADS was established in1976 to train and provide rescued dogs and donated puppies to assist people who are deaf or physically disabled in leading more independent lives at work, at home and at school. These assistance dogs become an extension of their owners and bring security, freedom, independence and relief from social isolation to their human partners.
The Abilities FundThe Abilities Fund is the first nationwide nonprofit community developer and financial institution focused exclusively on expanding entrepreneurial opportunities, including access to capital, for people with disabilities.  We do this by providing a unique combination of financial products, training, technical assistance services and advisory supports to individuals with disabilities.
Goodwill IndustriesThey are North America’s leading nonprofit provider of education, training, and career services for people with disadvantages, such as welfare dependency, homelessness, and lack of education or work experience, as well as those with physical, mental and emotional disabilities. Last year, local Goodwill’s collectively provided employment and training services to more than 1.1 million individuals.
Boyer Children’s ClinicBoyer Children’s Clinic is a non-profit therapy and early childhood educational facility under the medical direction of a developmental pediatrician, serving children from birth to teen years who have neuromuscular disorders such as cerebral palsy or delay in development. Our goal is to help each child reach their maximum potential.

Substance AbuseThe Partnership for a Drug Free AmericaThis site is awesome because it’s got information for teens and parents. It also has videos, testimonies. It has a drug index to find information about specific drugs. This site could be used to learn how to confront someone who might be using a drug, it could be a training activity.
Substance AbuseU.S. Department of Health and Human ServicesThis website is similar to the others. It has an index of topics, not just specifically substance abuse. It has information for teachers, parents and students. This could be used to find funding because there is link for that. It could also be used as a resource link and older students could use this for research projects.
Safety and Accident PreventionNational Center for Missing and Exploited ChildrenThis site could be used to find facts about stranger danger as well as telling students important facts about safety. This is a site aimed for adults, so would be a great resource for parents and teachers on how to teach students about stranger danger and looking for sex offender.
Prevention and Control of DiseaseThe Carter CenterThis site could be used in a project on world health for older students. It has links to specific diseases programs and news articles. It is also a great chance to work with your family on helping another family in need.
Nutrition and Personal HealthAlliance for a Healthier GenerationThis website is a site to hind out how to help students fight obesity. It provides facts about the population that is overweight in America. It has articles about how students can get involved. This site could be used to have students start school wide projects on fighting obesity.
Family LifeMore4KidsThis website could be used to get ideas for parents about why they earn’t getting along. There are gift ideas. This website has articles about families, and parenting tips. 
Family LifeFamily Fun and SupportThis site is great for finding activities for families to do. A teacher could use this site as a vacation activity idea list or get ideas for classroom activities.
DevelopmentTumblonThis site tracks the developmental markers of children. It also provides links to articles, news, products and other parent concerns.
