response organization. It offers neutral humanitarian care to the
victims of war. The organization has expanded its services, always with
the aim of preventing and relieving suffering. |
| Closing the Gap | Changing Lives with Assistive Technology: This is an organization that
works to focus on provide assistive technology to people with
disabilities so that they are able to close the gap between themselves
and others without disabilities. It provides bimonthly magazines,
international conferences and an extensive website. |
| National Down Syndrome Society | The
National Down Syndrome Society is to be the national advocate for the
value, acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. The
National Down Syndrome Society envisions a world in which all people
with Down syndrome have the opportunity to enhance their quality of
life, realize their life aspirations, and become valued members of
welcoming communities. |
| American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities | AAIDD
promotes progressive policies, sound research, effective practices. It
also promotes universal human rights for people with intellectual and
developmental disabilities. |
| Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC) | The
Arc of the United States advocates for the rights and full
participation of all children and adults with intellectual and
developmental disabilities. Together with our network of members
and affiliated chapters, we improve systems of supports and services;
connect families; inspire communities and influence public policy. |
| Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) | Is
a voluntary health agency -- a dedicated partnership between scientists
and concerned citizens aimed at conquering neuromuscular diseases that
affect more than a million Americans. MDA combats neuromuscular
diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive medical
and community services, and far-reaching professional and public health
education. With national headquarters in Tucson, MDA has more than 200
offices across the country, sponsors 215 hospital-affiliated clinics
and supports nearly 400 research projects around the world. |
| National Education for Assistive Dog Service (NEADS) | NEADS
was established in1976 to train and provide rescued dogs and donated
puppies to assist people who are deaf or physically disabled in leading
more independent lives at work, at home and at school. These assistance
dogs become an extension of their owners and bring security, freedom,
independence and relief from social isolation to their human partners. |
| The Abilities Fund | The
Abilities Fund is the first nationwide nonprofit community developer
and financial institution focused exclusively on expanding
entrepreneurial opportunities, including access to capital, for people
with disabilities. We do this by providing a unique combination
of financial products, training, technical assistance services and
advisory supports to individuals with disabilities. |
| Goodwill Industries | They
are North America’s leading nonprofit provider of education, training,
and career services for people with disadvantages, such as welfare
dependency, homelessness, and lack of education or work experience, as
well as those with physical, mental and emotional disabilities. Last
year, local Goodwill’s collectively provided employment and training
services to more than 1.1 million individuals. |
| Boyer Children’s Clinic | Boyer
Children’s Clinic is a non-profit therapy and early childhood
educational facility under the medical direction of a developmental
pediatrician, serving children from birth to teen years who have
neuromuscular disorders such as cerebral palsy or delay in development.
Our goal is to help each child reach their maximum potential. |
