2006 Annual Tour of Seattle Food Businesses

First stop on the tour was Food Services of America in Kent

Waiting patiently outside FSA...and freezing to death!

FSA provides everything...and we mean everything that a restaurant or food
service needs to operate.  It is essentially a Costco on steroids...

In order to not be run over by speeding FSA forklifts, we made a
fashion statement.

Lunch was provided by former CWU graduate Linda Donohue and her
able assistant Vera from Kenco Foodservice, a food brokerage firm.

Lunch was eagerly awaited by starving nutrition students.

Following the lunch and panel presentations, the group toured the Product Development
and Technical Center of Continental Mills.  Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to take any photos of
their facilities.  However, it was a very interesting tour, especially for the Experimental
Foods students.

The last stop of the day was at Diamond Knot Brewery in Mukilteo.  Here, CWU alumni
and current brewmaster Pat Ringe, explains the brewing and fermentation process.

We are rewarded at the end of his presentation with a taste of their fine brews!
