Networks - Departmental Information

Detailed information pertaining to the Networks department

The Networks and Operations (N&0) department is responsible for management of Information Technology servers at CWU's Computer Center, the data network backbone, the extended off-campus network, the Internet connection and the ResNet Internet service. N&O is responsible for keeping the servers operational and available, maintaining operating systems, key infrastructure/backend services, and all hardware and network components.

Specific Technical Services tasks:

  • Ensuring Operating Systems are current and patched
  • Keeping Key infrastructure services current and patched
  • Maintaining backup and recovery solutions for all servers and services
  • Trouble-shooting server hardware issues, acquiring replacement parts
  • Designing new hardware/software solutions to meet new campus services.
  • Creating and maintaining computer accounts for all users on campus and extended off-campus
  • Data network routers and switches (433 pieces of equipment)
  • Wireless Computing (132 access points)
