Music : Tuba Euphonium Audition Requirements

Admission Audition Requirements
For New Tuba or Euphonium Students

In order to complete your acceptance into the CWU Department of Music program, you must audition for the music faculty. This gives us an opportunity to hear the level you have achieved in your musical skills and it gives you the opportunity to discuss your development with collegiate instructors.

For your audition we recommend the following:

1. Select music which best displays your performance level.
2. We strongly recommend you prepare your audition material under the supervision of your private teacher and/or music director.

Requirements:

1. Any two contrasting etudes from standard etude books, e.g., Bordogni, Tyrell, Blazevich, Kopprasch)
2. A solo that demonstrates the student's highest level of technical and musical achievement. 

Large Ensemble Audition Requirements
For New and Returning Tuba or Euphonium Students

Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Symphonic Band auditions will take place during the first week of each new quarter. You will sign up for an audition time on Professor Gookin’s door, room 109. Auditions will require a solo of your choice and the following excerpts. Downlaod and print these excerpts for Tuba and Euphonium to prepare for the Fall 09 auditions.

Tuba Euphonium Ensemble Audition Requirements
For all Tuba and Euphonium Students

Contact Curtis Peacock for more information about auditioning for the Tuba Euphonium Ensemble. Audition times must be arranged directly with Curtis Peacock, head of the tuba/euphonium area.
