 CWU Theory Textbooks

  • Tonal Harmony with an Introduction to Twentieth-Century Music, 6th ed.
by Stephan Kostka and Dorothy Payne – 2009, MacGraw Hill

This text is probably the most widely used college theory textbook and is very “mainstream,” so even if you go to another college that uses a different text, chances are that it will not be that different. It also has self-tests at the end of each chapter, with the answers provided in the back of the book, so students can check their work.
  • Music for Sight-Singing, 7th ed.
by Robert W. Ottman and Nancy Rogers – 2005, New Jersey
  • MacGAMUT 6 (Music Software International)
Available on-line at: www.macgamut.com (Click order MacGAMUT, then Individuals)
Approximate Cost is $40 plus $3 shipping Interchangeable on both platforms (Mac or PC)
