The MPA Program has a rolling admissions process. We will keep enrolling students until the program is full. Completed applications may be considered into August for fall quarter admission.

2. When can I start the program?

All MPA students must start the program during a fall quarter. No MPA admissions are made for winter, spring, or summer quarter starts.

3. When are courses offered?

Courses are offered during evenings during fall, winter, and spring quarters. No MPA courses are offered during the summer. The courses are offered on either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday.

4. Where are the courses offered?

Courses are sent via distance education among the Ellensburg campus and the Des Moines and Lynnwood sites.

5. Do I need to complete the program in one year?

Students who have completed a bachelor's degree in accounting have the option of completing the program in one year or two years. The one year program consists of taking three courses per quarter for three quarters. The two year program consists of taking one course per quarter for the first year and two courses per quarter during the second year. During the final quarter, students take a comprehensive exam.

6. What major factors are considered for admission?

Grade point average and GMAT scores are the primary factors used to make admissions decisions.

7. Do I need to take the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT)?

Yes. A GMAT score is required for admission consideration. Information about the GMAT is located at http://www.mba.com/mba/TaketheGMAT When you register for the GMAT, make certain that you select the Central Washington University Master of Professional Accountancy Program as one of the recipients of your scores. Official scores must be sent directly from GMAT to Central Washington University.

Yes. A minimum GMAT score of 450 is required for admission into the program. Preferably, applicants will have a GMAT score of 500 or higher.

9. Do I need to have a minimum GPA?

Yes. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for full admission into the MPA Program. Applicants with less than a 3.0 GPA may be accepted to the MPA program on a probationary basis; however, their academic progress would be watched during their first quarter of the program.

10. Do I need to submit a TOEFL score?

If English is your second language and you did not receive a bachelor's degree from an accredited United Stated college, you will need to submit TOEFL scores.

11. What is the minimal TOEFL score acceptable for admission?

Minimal TOEFL scores acceptable for admission are 213 computer based, 550 paper based, and 79 internet based.

12. Do I need to register and take the CPA exam during the MPA Program?

Students are required to register for the CPA exam during fall quarter of their final year of the program. Students will take three of the four sections of the CPA exam during winter and spring quarters of the final year of their program. Students must report their exam scores to the Department of Accounting as part of the learning outcomes assessment program; however, student's scores on the CPA exam will not be used to assign grades for the program.
