Creating a Test with Test Manager

This tutorial will show you how to create a test in your Blackboard course.

  1. Log on to http://courses.cwu.edu and click on your course. Go to the Control Panel by clicking on the Control Panel button.

  2. Click Test Manager link.

  3. Click theAdd Test button.

  4. Enter a name for the test. You can also add a description and instructions. When you are finished click the Submit button.

  5. Select the Creation Settings link.

  6. Choose the creation setting options that will provide you the most functionality.
    1. Provide feedback for individual answers
      Select this check box to include the option to enter feedback for individual answers rather then just one set of feedback for correct or incorrect answers. Note: Individual feedback cannot be provided for answers in True/False questions, Multiple Answer questions, and Matching questions.
    2. Add images, files, and URLs to questions
      Select this check box to include the option to attach images, files, and URLs to questions in the Test.
    3. Add images and files to answers
      Select this check box to include the option to attach images and files to answers.
    4. Add categories and keywords to questions
      Select this check box to include the option to create categories and add questions to them. This option also enables Instructors to add keywords to questions. When searching for questions from a Question Pool or other Tests, Instructors may search for questions by category and keyword.
    5. Specify default point value for questions
      Select this option and all questions will automatically have the same point value. Enter the point value in the Default point value: field. This only sets a default. The point total for each question can still be customized.

  7. In this example the default point value is changed to 1. Click the Submit button.

  8. The creation setting are displayed. Click the OK button.

  9. To add a question to the assessment, select a question type from the pull down menu. In this example True/False is selected.

  10. Click the GO button.

  11. Type the question text in the space provided. You can specify a different point value for this question than what was set as the default.

  12. Under Correct Answer Answer Values, select the radio button that corresponds to the correct answer.

  13. You may type in a Correct Response and Incorrect Response (this is optional). Your students will only see this if you enable feedback when you deploy the test. See Making a Test Available tutorial for more information. Click the Submit button.

  14. To continue adding more questions, click one of the Add Question Here links or select a question type from the pull down menu and click the GO button.

  15. Once you have entered all questions scroll to the bottom of the page and click theOK button.

  16. The newly created test is displayed. When you are ready for students to take the test view the Making a Test Available tutorial.
