Introduction

Zoos are a fun and interesting place for people to go see amazing animals. There are hundreds of zoos all over the word to visit. Many different animals live in the zoo in different habitats and eat different foods. There are people who dedicate there time to taking care of these wonderful animals and who cater to there every needs inside a zoo, this person is called a zoo keeper and they make sure the animals stay safe, we stay safe as visitors, they feed the animals, and make sure that the animals are healthy and that they remain in there natural living habitat.

Task

It will be your task to act like a zoo keeper and it is your responsibility to take care of one of the animals in the zoo.  Pick your favorite animal that lives at a zoo. As the zoo keeper it is your responsibility to find out what the animals eat and exactly what kind of habitat they would need to be completely comfortable, safe and happy. From the information you find you will create a poster with a drawing of your animal in its habitat and write 3 sentences explaining the animals habitat and diet. A power point will also be done where the students can explain more information about their animals, and more pictures would be used. The information, poster, and  final presentation will be shared with the class.

The Process

Think about the time you have visited the zoo, which place are you most likely to visit first? Consider these questions when looking for information about your project. You are not subjected to answering every question but these questions will help when researching and feel free to make up your own.

Questions to answer about your animal as you are researching their habitat and diet:

Resources

There are many resources available for students to find information for their project. My classroom is equipped with plenty of encyclopedias and animal books. As well as i am providing students with web resources to find information on plenty of animals. If there animal is not on this page, they can ask for help and i will help them find resources. These links come from the San Diego Zoo website, these websites talk much about the habitat, the diet, where these animals can be found, as well as all interesting facts. These are just a few of the more popular animals, but feel free to ask about any others.
