Learning Objectives Format
The OAE method is particularly useful when planning learning activities. It allows for the objective, the activity, and method of evaluation. This may be especially useful to you when planning programs where outcomes are scrutinized such as in your student teaching or internship. Below youŐll find an example. Use the space to practice objectives of your own. Note that each objective has a corresponding activity and evaluation method. Be careful not to confuse your activity and objective! (a common error).
Objectives
a) The learner will improve her computer skills, particularly those related to giving presentations
b) The learner will gain confidence when public speaking.
c) The learner will become familiar with the budgetary aspects of the non-profit agency.
a) The learner will attend a 4 hour PowerPoint workshop and create a smoking cessation slide show.
b) The learner will give two lunch-hour presentations on smoking cessation to the employees of Biggie Corporation
c) The learner will attend budget meetings with site supervisor
a) PowerPoint slide show will be provided on disc to Professor Lard bottom
b) Attendees will complete a written evaluation form that includes items regarding the presenterŐs confidence.
c) Site supervisor will provide verbal feedback regarding learnerŐs understanding of budget.
