Kelli Macleod - Art Educator
Intro picture Art tools In the garden

Let me introduce myself!

Hi there! My name is Kelli, I'm 22 years old and I'd like to tell you a few things about myself. Currently I'm living in Ellensburg,  working towards earning my teaching certificate. My specialization is in Visual Art - painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, sculpture, and printmaking. When I'm not in class or doing homework, you can usually find me doing something crafty like quilting, scrap-booking, or baking.

I also love to travel! I traveled to China twice; once in high school as a student ambassador, and again with my family 3 years later. I have also visited France, spending over two weeks exploring different Gothic & Romanesque cathedrals with my art history professor. I like to go camping on the coast or near rivers, going for hikes in the mountains, or exploring new cities just about anywhere. I love how much I learn when I travel. One of my favorite things about art is when you learn about a different culture's art, it is like taking a vacation to where the art came from without leaving the classroom!

To let you know a bit about my self as an educator... I firmly believe that every student can achieve anything and we as parents and educators have the tools to help them do so. We can learn just as much from our students as they can learn from us; one of my goals as a teacher is learn from my students everyday. Why would I choose to teach art? Because art can be anything you want it to be. There is an amazing freedom that comes with creating art and I am eager to see what your student can do. Something that I will try to instill in your children is a great appreciation for art history. Through my own experiences, I feel that there can be no proper application of artistic skills unless there is a true appreciation of where those techniques originated from. I will encourage your students to use the knowledge they already have and strive to gain additional knowledge about art. All students can be artists and I am so excited to see what your child can create!
