Charles Li
Professor of English
Charles Li received his undergraduate and graduate training
in three countries--China, New Zealand, and the States. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of
Missouri-Columbia in 1995 and specializes in linguistics, TESOL, linguistic approaches to literature,
and the history of the English language. He has over two decades of full-time college-level
teaching experience in English studies, first at Zhengzhou University, then at Adams State College,
and in 1996 he joined Central Washington University, teaching composition, literature, grammar,
linguistics, and graduate TESOL courses. Dr. Li is editor, with Luis López and Tom Stroik, of
Papers from 1997 Mid-America Linguistics Conference. He is also the translator of two novels,
First Term at Trebizon and Second Term at Trebizon and author of numerous articles
on linguistics, stylistics, TESOL, and historical metrics.
