For the Prospective StudentIncoming music students must be accepted to both the University and the Department of Music. A separate application is needed for each. University applications are available at most Washington high schools. Ask your school guidance counselor for an application or fill one out online. Music department audition applications are available in our department office or just send me an email and I will make sure you are sent one. Auditions for acceptance into the music department may be arranged individually with me or during one of our scheduled audition days. (See music department webiste for current dates) Scholarships for incoming music students are talent based awards and occasionally instrument need based (bassoon is often need based!). There are a variety of other financial aid monies available at CWU. Contact the Department of Financial Aid for more information. CWU hosts several festivals throughout the year. Our High School Wind Ensemble Festival is normally in early March, Orchestra Festival is in Mid-February, and State Solo and Ensemble Contest is held here in late April. Or perhaps you might be over for our choral or jazz festival. If you are coming into town for any of these events, drop me a line and I would love to meet with you during your visit. If you do not own a instrument we have several bassoons that you can use. You do not have to be a music major to participate in our ensembles. Any student on campus may also take private lessons on any instrument of their choosing. If you are ever in the Ellensburg area, feel free to drop me a line. I would love to talk with you about our program at CWU. I would also be happy to get together for a lesson. Drop me a line and we can set something up.
