Program Information


Currently the department of Law and Justice has 3 tracks: Law Enforcement, Legal Studies and Corrections.

The Law and Justice Department also offers a Generalist Degree. This degree was developed to offer more flexibility. It is geared for the LAJ major who does not want to specialize, and it is also provides the quickest route to degree.

Regardless of the course of study chosen, the department emphasizes the following student learning objectives:

  • Mastery of the essential content in law and justice
  • Ability to write and speak in the language and style of the discipline
  • Ability to use the major information resources appropriate to the discipline
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, ethical issues in the discipline
  • Understanding of, and ability to conduct, research in the discipline
  • Awareness of, and sensitivity to, issues pertaining to diversity
