Introduction to Legal StudiesIf you are thinking about law school or simply looking for a start in the promising job market as a paralegal, the Legal Studies/Paralegal track is the right fit. After graduation most people go into the workforce. If you want a heads up on everyone, visit the careers page. Its important to know that as a LAJ graduate you are not limited in your choice of careers or vocations. Precisely the opposite is true. In fact, the LAJ degree opens up more doors than one expects. Here are some of the careers that LAJ graduates have gone into from their respective tracks, outside of the careers that they specifically prepared for at CWU: Legal Studies/Paralegal
Those bound for law school are able to take classes like legal research and writing, introduction to civil practice and family law, as well as many others, including law classes from other departments. This early start gives law students a crucial advantage since these classes are typically taken in the first challenging year of law school. Not only can a student prepare for law school, but a graduate is armed with experience and knowledge that makes them in demand in the growing job market for paralegals. A paralegal can make more than $30,000 a year to start, depending on the state of the job market. For more information on careers within the legal field, please visit the "Careers page."
