Central Washington Bridge Project.

The Bridges Project was founded in 1997 by Lois Breedlove, chair of the Communication Department. Bridges started out with 5 volunteer Central Washington University students who mentored middle and high school students in underrepresented schools. Today thanks to the help of the Gear-Up grant, Bridges is now sending out more then 50 college mentors to different schools districts such Othello, Royal City, Mattawa, Prosser, Highland, Brewster, Bridgeport, Chelan, Manson, Omak, Oroville, and Tonasket. Bridges hopes to expand it's services and start working with other school districts in the state of Washington.

Bridges is a grant funded program developed to inspire underrepresented student to continue education. College mentors are sent out to deferent school districts to mentor students who are at risk of failing a class, dropping out of school, not passing a grade level, and /or not graduating high school. Bridges also gives student s the chance to socialize with real college student , who might come for the same background as them, and realize that anything possible if you put your mind to it!!
