As a class your child is about to start a wilderness survival unit. This is where they will learn some of the survival skills need to sustain life while lost out in the wilderness. They will learn some first aid to help them in case of an emergency, how to build a shelter to protect them from the environment, learn how to search for water and food, and how find calculate the different directions that they are going or coming from.
Part of this unit we will be going on an overnight trip out into the wilderness or a camp which can have the skills performed in. We will be sending out a permission slip for each student providing that we get this opportunity approved by the school district. Each student will have to have this signed in order to go on this trip. Here they will be able to put into practice everything that we had been practicing for. they will get the chance to go out into the woods and build a shelter with a limited amount of items to work with.
