Topic: Volleyball passing skill test
Grade: 6th and 8th
Purpose: To check accuracy of passing
Target: To have students able to achieve a proficient level at forearm passing a volleyball.
Acheivement Expectations:
1. To demonstrate they have a certain level of
skill
Purpose of Assessment:
1. To determine if my teaching is affective (high
success=good teaching)
2. Grading purposes
Standards Incorporated: NASPE standards 1
Type of Assessment: performance
Benchmarks:
1. Able to at least show competency in volleyball
forearm pass
Communication of Results:
1. It will be used in classroom and report card
grades
2. Can be used in conference with parents to
show increase or decrease in performance.
3. General notes can be taken over 6th and 8th
to check for improvement and teaching effectiveness.
Concequences of assessment:
1. If they are successful during nontest class
periods the assessment should assist toward confident expectation of success.
2. It also gives them the opportunity to control
their own academic well being.
Preparation:
The testing station for passing will be taped
for boundaries and will have a boundary for the destination of the pass.
The destination of the pass is the designated setting spot (0). A
person will stand there as the setter and just catch the passes from the
passer. There is also a tosser on the other side of the net.
The teacher stands to the side of the court.
Directions:
The passer takes 10 passes, 5 on each side (left,
and right) in the back row. Their goal is to get each one of the
passes to the setter within one step.The tosser tosses it to the designated
area and the passer must stay in the marked area and make the pass.
Grading:
90/100 points or A=9-10 good passes
80 points or B=8 good passes
70 points or C=7 good passes
60 points or D=6 good passes
50 points or F= 5 or less
