Clean the
backyard
Balls or any soft object is scattered throughout the gym. Students
are divided equally on each side of the gym. On the instructor's
command the students will begin to throw the objects over to the other
teams side of the gym. Thise will continue until the instructor gives
the signal to stop. Once the game has stopped each side will count
the number of objects on their side of the court the team with the most
balls on there side losses.
Tie
the Knot
Students
will be placed in groups of three or four. Each group will be given
a rope and cleat. Each student will have to successfully tie a cleathitch
correctly. When everyone in each team has completed this task then
they will sit down.
Scooter
Run
Students are put into groups of two with one scooter between the two of
then. Each student is on each side of the gym. The instructor
tells the students that they are sailboats and what they need to do is
get to the other side where there partner is located. The only problem
is the wind is blowing strait into your boat. So the student must
figure out to get to the other side of the gym with a strong head wind.
Titanic
Use cones to set up boundaries for the playing area. This designed playing
area will be the Titanic. The front of the Titanic is called the bow and
the back is the stern, the right side of the Titanic is starboard and the
left side is port. The center is called the crow's nest. Review all the
playing areas of the Titanic by name before playing activity. Students
are also told that anything pst the cones is of course frigid water.
Have the students start in the crow's nest. Select a locomotion skill for
the activity. The teacher then a randomly calls out different areas
of the Titanic and the students have to travel to these areas using the
selected locomotion skills. After the students become familiar with
the area, the teacher then calls out other actions during the activity.
It does not matter where the students are located on Titanic for these
actions to be performed. Here are a few examples: 1. Swab the deck -- students
pretend to mop the deck; 2. Abandon Ship --- students get off the ship
and quickly find a partner(s). Partners sit down feet to feet and pretend
to row a boat on the frigid arctic water; 3. Iceberg ahead --- students
get off the ship and start swimming on their stomachs.
Flag
Tag
First, pick a couple of students to be "it". Give the rest of the
class, flags used in football and have them put their equipment on.
The "it" students, when commanded
are supposed to run around and try and capture as many of the students
flags as possible. If a
student has both flags removed
from his or her hips then that student needs to go put on a colored jersey
and join the "it" group.
The last student to have a flag
or both flags wins. Rules: No grabbing of clothes, students may not hide
their flags behind backs,
students must stay in the given
boundaries, students may not stiff arm. Equipment: Enough flag football
flags for the entire class,
colored jerseys, colored cones
to mark off the field.
