Class Introduction and Overview:
This class is designed to introduce
boating to students. These activities will involve learning safety, knot
tieing, team strategies and teamwork. The students will learn the basic
skills needed for boating and will build on those skills. We will
be covering boating over a one and half week course. Boating is a
fun experience for the instructor and the students.
Equipment:
-life jackets
-rope
-maps
-cleats
Methods of Presentation:
-Lecture -Demonstration
-Peer evaluations
-Hands on experience
Student Learning Objectives:
-Students will have the basic knowledge
of boating safety.
-Students will be ableto perforn
at least two diffferent knots.
-Students will have a basic understanding
of how a boat works.
-Students will be able to create
their own course through the waters of the puget sound.
Attendance:
-Attendance is vital for this unit
in order to learn about boating.
Assessment:
The grading in this unit will be
determined by:
-Active Participation (50%)
-Test and Quizzes over skills and
rules (15%)
-Attendance (15%)
-Project (20%)
Grading:
100%-90%= A
89%-80%= B
79%-70%= C
69%-60%= D
59%-0% = E
