Dear parent or guardian of ________________,

As part of our outdoor activities class, your child will be participating in a Nature Hiking unit.    If you have any questions about the unit or would like to participate, please contact me at school or email me at: MortonN@cwu.edu.

We will be spending 5 full sessions concentrating on:
1. Trail finding and reasons for staying on trails.
2. Identifying wildlife.
3. First Aid
4. 13 Essentials
5. Safety Procedures.

Your child will be actively participating in all of these lessons and will be assessed at the end of the unit on important outlining points.  Following the 5 sessions learning about nature and hiking, we will be taking a field trip to The Manastash Ridge or Mount Stuart.  Your child will be supplied with a informational packet on this day which they will fill out.  A permission slip will be sent home near the end of unit.  If anyone is interested in chaperoning this hike, please contact me ASAP.
