Team
Handball Skill Themes: Jumping and Landing, Throwing, Dribbling, Catching, Balance, Weight Transfer B. Rationale: Junior High to Senior High students will want to learn about Team Handball because it is a sport that is unfamiliar to the majority of the American public. This unit will be a positive & refreshing change to the regular units that students experience nearly every year in Junior and Senior High physical education class (ie. Basketball, Softball, Kickball, etc.). C. Unit Goal: Students will combined the skill themes required and utilize strategies from other sports instructed upon in the past (mainly basketball and soccer), to develop a foundation in Team Handball. This foundation will provide students with a better understanding and ultimately a link with sport in other cultures. This experience will also help promote the support and growth of Team Handball in our country. | |||||||||||||||

| ** In order for many of these lessons to be effective and utilized
fully, further knowledge of the game of Team Handball and the formations
is required. These lessons offer very helpful ideas to someone who is
familiar with or has access to a resource that covers Team Handball. The
Team Handball text of "Steps to Success" is recommended.
