Many different types of mats are the required equipment
for tumbling. Six foot width mats at least 12 feet long are more
adequate for teaching than are the 4 to 5 foot width sizes; they provide
enough room for more active participation. Inclined mats or wedges
should also be included on the list of tumbling equipment. Other
equipment that could be acquired for various teaching outcomes includes
training pads, landing mats, and spotting belts.

Most regulation balance beams should be padded and adjustable
in height, allowing students to practice at lower levels and during later
progressions at higher levels. Nonadjustable low beams which are
mainly used by beginner students are not necessarily required, but should
be addressed as equipment to buy for future considerations. Beam
training pads, used to provide extra padding on the beam when learning
rolling stunts, are a necessity for safety procedures. Vaulting or
springboards for mounting purposes should also be acquired.

Vaulting equipment should include a jump board, beat board,
spring board, mini tramp, take off board, side horse, and long horse.
Various well padded mats are also required for the vault.
