Topic:     Learning how to move around objects.

Skill:  Students will learn how to move around objects by using different paddling techniques.

Objective:     The crew will work together as one unit.

Lesson Activity:    (Materials needed for this activity):  For every eight people there will be one shell.  Everyone must a life jacket at all times while in the boat.)

Students will need to learn how to move around objects that are in the water.  So we work on our turning techniques and going forward and backwards as well.  Again the coxswain will call out the direction the shell needs to go.  Each of the crew members will listen to what the coxswain has to say and then they will do it.  I will place numerous amounts of objects in the water.  The object is, as a team, try not to hit any of the objects with your shell.  After all, these boats are expensive and we wouldn't want to scratch them up.

Assessment:      Students will be assessed on how well they work together.  They must work together if they don't want to hit any objects.  Also participation and attendance are always part of the grade as well.
