Clothing:
What to Wear ?
Lets start with a head-to-toe list of things to wear before heading
out into the wilderness..
1. Cool vented hat with a wide brim and chin cord.
2. Long sleeved light coloured cotton-polyester shirt or blouse. (Summer)
3. Shorts or long trousers (depending on terrain and season).
4. Cotton underwear.
5. Thick socks (+ thin inner socks to reduce blisters or two pairs of thick socks).
6. Walking boots/shoes with good ankle support.
7. A jumper or Series 200 synthetic jacket
8. A good raincoat with hood
Also add SPF15+ sun screen on top of
hands, back of neck and face (especially on nose) with
Lip balm on lips. If walking through
wet areas which are likely to have leaches roll-on some RID
insect repellent in a band from the
ankles up about 100mm.
Notes:
1. Ensure that toe nails have been correctly trimmed.
2. Bangles and other jewellery (large ear rings) should not be worn
as they may get caught in
branches and cause injuries.
