TASK CARDS
One Two Foot Start:
This
allows the skier to press up with both feet which is important for a beginner
skier.
* With both feet in the binding, hold the handle
out towards the boat with a slight bend in your arms.
* Pull your front knee up to your chest and keep
your back leg tucked in behind it.
* With your eyes focused just above the boat,
arch your back away from the boat as it begins to pull you out of the water.
* Pressing with both feet, stand up by bringing
your hips up to the handle.
* The key is to resist the boat by not allowing
it to pull you forward.
One Foot Start:
The one foot start creates
less force and pull than the two foot start, making it easier on the back.
It is also easier to balance yourself in the water during the start.
* Hold the handle out towards the boat with a
slight bend in your arms.
* Pull your ski leg knee up to your chest and
point your free foot down and behind you.
* This leg will help keep you straight and counter
your balance.
* Keep your eyes focused just above the boat.
* As the boat starts, arch your back away from
the boat and slowly stand up by bringing your hips towards the handle.
* Continue to drag your feet behind as you stand
up.
* After you are up, place your free foot into
the rear toe strap.
