Recommendations for stores taken from: Bridge, Raymond.  (1979).  Bike Touring:  The Sierra Club Guide to Outings on Wheels.  San Francisco:  California.  Sierra Club books.  pgs.  433-435.

Early Winters, 110 Prefontaine Pl. S., Seattle, WA  98104
:manufactures high-quality, innovative camping equipment, usually lightweight.  The firm also sells other good-quality lightweight items for cycle camping, such as Lexan utensils.  Good service.

Mountain Safety Research, 631 S. 96th St.,  Seattle, WA  98108
:publishes a $1 catalogue of equipment primarily intended for climbers.  MSR carries a variety of camping gear but is of interest to cyclists mainly for its helmets, stoves, and headlamps.

Recreational Equipment, Inc., P.O. Box C-88125, Seattle, WA  98140, is a cooperative that publishes a free catalogue but requires a one time $2 membership fee, entitling you to year-end rebates of approximately 10 percent.  REI's catalogue offers one of the most complete selections of lightweight camping gear available and includes some bike bags.  Although the co-op advertises a catalogue of bicycles and accessories, I have never been able to obtain one.  REI has excellent buys on some items, but its down gear is not up to par.  This store is probably the most equipped in the Northwest.

Note:  Any of these stores have information about clubs and groups that ride and take trips together.
