Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to equip students with the basic knowledge and archery skills needed, that will allow them to continue to participate in this sport once they have completed the course.

Objectives:  Upon completion of this course students will be able to:
     A.  Adhere to and identify the safety considerations related to archery, such as being able to identify the hazards of using improper equipment, and not using the proper tecnique when shooting.

     B.   Identify and name the different types of equipment used in archery.

     C.  Describe and demonstrate the basic skills of archery.

Attendance and Dress:
     A.  Students will be required to dress down for class.  Dress will consist of a white t-shirt, and shorts, sweats, or warm ups.

     B.  Students will also be required to show up for class.  If students do not attend class their grade will be affected.

 

Course Content:

     A.  Correct progression for learning archey concepts, and the importance of learning these concepts to inspire a lifetime of activity in this area.

     B.  Review of basic methods involved in performing proper shooting skills in archery.

     C.  Safety considerations in regards to the location of others when shooting, as well as, using equipment properly.

     D.  Range shooting

     E.  Competitions and other activities geared to motivate students to practice skills learned.

Evaluation:

     A.  Two quizzes and one written test. 25%

     B.  Video presentation of shooting progression. 25%

     C.  Portfolio containing articles related to archery, other pertinent information related to the subject, and showing the students interest in the sport.  25%

     D.  Report explaining what the student feels is important about learning archery skills.15%

     E.  Attendance and proper dress. 10%
