Lesson 6
Topic: Indoor Adaptation

Concept: Learn how to play on a different surface.

Skill: Throwing, strategies.

Objective:  Students will learn to adapt to a different environment and find alternative ways to play bocce.

Lesson activity: (materials needed: 8" mats (fold up mats to use as walls), beanbags, juggling balls)

Instant Activity:  Scarf tag

This lesson allows us to adapt to having to work inside with bocce.  Instead of using the balls t o throw around, we will use beanbags and juggling balls.  This will make it easier to play because there won't be as much bouncing or rolling too far.  Set up the mats to make lanes for the different courts.  Have each team play according to the rules.

In this lesson the students are going to evaluate each other on how well they are performing by mechanics.  In other words the students are going to assess each other on their style and form.  Each group of students will have an evaluation sheet for each member.  They will fill it out in the allotted time given to them and then switch.  It does not matter how well their toss goes as long as they have the form down.  They will then take the sheet home and write a reflection paper on how they felt that they performed and what they could do to improve their techniques.  I will then collect them and see how the students evaluated each other and themselves.
