Jogging

Jogging is an inexpensive form of exercise that you can do at anytime, for as long as you want, with a friend or alone. Jogging can be done for health, to prepare for running events, or just get in shape for sports.

Where

Anywhere! Roads without much traffic are best but the hard surface can be tough on the legs. Tracks at schools are softer. Grass is ideal and footpaths such as those at Irene Rinehart Park and along the Iron-horse Trail are great.

Dates

Year round. Be careful when icy.

Cost

Sturdy pair of jogging shoes ($25-50). Protect head and hands in winter. Wear sunscreen in hot weather.

Contacts

Friends who want to stay or get in shape for sports. Friends who want to stay healthy and feel good about themselves.

Comments

Jogging is an excellent stress reliever. Begin slow and for short distances working up to a 30-45 minute run. Start with a walking program if running is too hard at the beginning. Go at a speed you can talk with a friend. Drink water and avoid dehydration especially in hot weather.
