Research Methods
Differences Among Groups
Student Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to:
- Explain why "statistics never establish cause and effect."
(depends on the experimental arrangements)
- Explain the difference between, and provide examples of real
world and quasi-experimental settings.
- Explain "power" and ways in which it can be increased
by the design and conduct of an experiment. (probabiliy of finding
differences, etc.)
- Show their understanding of the different uses of the t-test
and simple ANOVA with a practical example.
- Show an understanding of a practical way in which a Factorial
ANOVA might be used.
- Explain the use and limitations of repeated measures designs.
- Illustrate an understanding of a typical use of t-tests and
ANOVAs by designing a sample research study (How are true and
quasi-experimental studies different from correlational studies?)
