Historical Research in Physical Activity
Student Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to:
- Explain how historical researchers use paradigms (Relates
to the approach the researcher uses to investigate a subject.)
- Explain and illustrate differences between primary and secondary
sources of information (Firsthand versus secondhand reports.)
- Explain through the use of practical examples, differences
between descriptive and analytic types of research (Creation of
a map versus explanation and interpretation.)
- Understand the difference between external and internal criticism
in historical research (Is the source authentic versus is the
source credible.)
