Research Methods

PEHL 557 is a graduate level introduction to the research process. The course is designed to help students to become informed consumers of completed research. When combined with the study of statistics, students should be capable of planning, conducting, and analyzing research of moderate difficulty. A combination of approaches will be used in this course including: readings about and discussion of research methods; a series of learning activities to provide practical experience in research methods; analyzing research examples; and preparing elements of a research proposal. As part of the graduate program in PEHLS you are required to complete a thesis, project, or examination. This class is designed to help you prepare for the research needed to complete this requirement. (Revised 12/15/01)
