If you are browsing the Internet and come across a page you want to save, you have several options.

Clicking on File, Save As in Internet Explorer results in the following screen,

Save As window

  1. Web Page, complete (*.htm, *.html): saves not only the html coded page but also all of the images and style sheets in a separate folder. This can create problems if you are saving one of the CWU web pages as it interferes with the templates.
  2. Web Archive, single file (*.mht): saves the page in a format that can be easily emailed however there have been security flaws associated with this file type.
  3. Web Page, HTML only (*.htm, *.html): saves the file as seen in your browser, graphics included although they are not saved separately. This option works best if you are saving a page to work on for CWU.
  4. Text file (*.txt): saves the code only and requires a word processing program like Notepad to open.

Other browsers such as Netscape, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari have similar saving options.
