Looking to forward e-mail from GroupWise to another account? You've got a few options....

  1. One-at-a-time.
  2. A few at a time.
  3. The whole nine yards.

PLEASE NOTE: You need to be logged onto a campus computer with the Computer version of GroupWise installed. You can not forward more than one e-mail at a time from gwweb. All of the following instructions pertain to using the Computer version of GroupWise on a PC. Check Computer Lab Availability for open times (link also on Intranet).

One-at-a-time

To forward your e-mail one at a time,

  • Click on the e-mail you want to forward.
  • Click on Actions, and either Forward (the message will appear in the e-mail screen) or Forward as Attachment (the e-mail will appear as an attachment).

A Mail To: window appears.

  • Fill in the e-mail address you want your mail to go to.
  • Click Send.

A few at a time

You can select a block of e-mails to be sent all at once but be aware that the e-mails will all be packaged into one e-mail and there's a size limit on sending e-mails so you'll have to do a block at a time.

To forward a few e-mails,

  • Select a block of e-mails (click on one, press the Shift key and click on another further down or use the Ctrl key to select nonadjacent e-mails)
  • Click on Actions, Forward as Attachment.

A Mail To: window appears.

  • Fill in the To: field with your other e-mail address.
  • Click Send.

The whole nine yards

If you want to have all of your e-mails forwarded to another account, you can create a rule to do so.

This process is easier to complete if all e-mails are in your Mailbox so if you have items in your Cabinet, move them to your Mailbox first.

  • Click on Tools, Rules, and then click on the New button.
  • Give your rule a name in the Rule name field.

In the When event is section...

  • Click on the button that says "New Item" and select Filed Item from the list that appears.
  • Click on the browse button at the end of the Selected folder field and select your Mailbox.

In the If conditions are section...

  • Select Mail under Item types.

In the Then actions are section...

  • Click on Add Action and select Forward from the list that appears.
  • In the window that appears, type in your other e-mail address and an appropriate Subject and message if you want.
  • Click OK
  • Click on the Add Action button again and select Delete/decline (this is optional) from the list. This will remove the mail from your GroupWise account after it's been sent to your other account.

A sample screen would look like the following...

Sample screen

  • Click on the Save button.
  • Close the Rules dialog box.

In the main GroupWise window with the contents of your mailbox displayed in the right-hand pane,

  • Click on Edit, Select All.
  • Click on Tools, Rules and select the rule you just created.
  • Click on the Run button.

A message will appear to let you know the rule has been run.

IMPORTANT: Uncheck the box next to your rule until you are ready to run it again. This will prevent your new mail from being forwarded until you are ready for it.

If you opted not to have the rule automatically delete the mail you just forwarded, you may want to either file it away in a folder in your Cabinet or delete it manually. That way you know what mail has been forwarded already.
