The Find function in GroupWise gives you several options for performing a search.

Note: when GroupWise performs its searches, it keeps your active account and your archives seperate so you'll need to run the search in both places.

To access the Find window,

  • Click on Tools, Find

OR

  • Press the Ctrl + F (Apple + F on the Mac) key on your keyboard.

The following screen appears (PC version. For Mac screens, see below.)

Find tab

The Find window on the PC has a Find tab and a Find by Example tab. On the Find tab, you can specify where to look in the Look in: section. In the sample above, all items that are checked will be searched. Note that the Trash is not selected by default. Narrow your search as needed by filling out the appropriate fields. For example, to search for a Mail item received at some point in the past two weeks from your boss, you'd check the Mail box under Item type, Received under Item source, set the Date range for the past two weeks and type in bosses name in the second white field after changing the To/CC option button to From/Author. The more you can narrow your search, the quicker the results will display.

Another option is to use the Find by Example tab.

Find by example tab

With this window, you can perform a search by giving GroupWise an example of what you are looking for. For instance, if you were looking for an email you sent out to someone and can't remember who but are pretty sure the word "project" was part of the subject line, you would then check the box for Sent and type in "project' in the Subject line.

When using the Find function on the Mac, you get the following screen,

Mac find window

This screen functions similar to the Find by example tab on the PC version (see above).

Once you've set your criteria in either version, the results will display. The following is an example of a search for all emails from Greg DeLuca. It shows the date the email was received and what folder the email is located in. You can open items from the results window if necessary.
