The Dock rocks in OS-X

A bar located at the bottom of the screen (although it can be moved)
that allows for quick, one-click access to your most commonly used programs
and files.
Generally the Dock always has the Finder link and your applications on
the left and the Trash and other folders on the right. A bar separates
your programs from your files/folders.

The Dock is completely customizable. You can change its location, add/remove
programs and files, change its size, and even animate it.
To customize the Dock,
- Click on the Apple menu, Dock,
Dock Preferences.
The System Preferences window opens with the Dock settings displayed.
In this window you can adjust the Dock Size, Magnification,
and Position on screen. You can also change how programs
open and whether or not you want the dock to “hide” when not
in use.

To add a program or folder to the Dock,
- Open Finder and navigate to the program or folder
you want to add.
- Drag the program or folder to the position you want on the
Dock and drop it (remember, programs on the left, folders on the right).
To delete a program or folder from the Dock,
- Click on the icon and drag it off.
When you drag an item off of the Dock it disappears in a puff of smoke.
- Click on an icon to open it.
Any applications you have open will have black arrow at the bottom of
the icon.
You can switch between open applications by clicking on them.
If you open up a program, then minimize the file it is using, that file
will appear in the folders section of the Dock.
Tip: A click and hold on an open application
icon on the dock will bring up a shortcut menu.
