Adding a Network Printer with a PC

In order to hook up a network printer to your PC, you will first need to know the following:

  • Tag number of the printer
  • Make and model of the printer.

You can look on the printer itself for the tag number or ask your department secretary.

  • Open the Start menu and click Printers and Faxes.
  • Click the Add a Printer button in the Printer Tasks section.

The Add a Printer Wizard appears.

  • Click Next.
  • Select the option to add a network printer.

  • Click Next.
  • Select the Browse for a printer option.
  • Click Next.
  • Double click NDPS Printers to expand the list.

  • Double click NDPS Controlled Access Printers.
  • Double click CWU_TREE.
  • Double click CWU.
  • Double click the organizational unit (Acad, Admin, PresOff, SAffairs, etc...) that you belong to.
  • Double click your department (HR, AMBE, DSS, etc...).
  • Click the printer that you wish to add.

  • Click Next.
  • You may get prompted to install the printer. If so, click Yes.
  • Select whether or not to use this printer by default as desired.
  • Click Next.
  • Click Finish.

From any open program such as Word, you will see this printer from the print dialog box.
