Rules On GWWeb

To access GroupWise on the Web, you must have an active Wildcat account. The password for this account must be set initially on the network (on a campus computer).  It can be changed on the Web, but it cannot be set initially there. If you do not know your Wildcat password and you are a staff member, you can call the Help Desk at 963-2001 to request a new one. Students can go to http://www.cwu.edu/mypassword to change theirs.

After logging on to gwweb you can apply several predefined rules on your account. Some of the more popular rules are listed below.

Filtering Mail

To create a rule that will filter incoming e-mail to a folder other than your Mailbox (i.e. Special Projects),

  • Click on the Options link in the upper right-hand corner.
  • Click on the Rules tab.

Options, Rules

  • Click on the drop-down menu next to Type and select Move to Folder.
  • Click on the Create button.

Move to folder rule

  • Give your rule a name in the first field.
  • Define the conditions needed for the email to be moved. For example, if the sender (From) is your boss then do the action listed below (move to folder).
  • Check the circle next to the folder where the email is to be moved.
  • Click the Save button.

Make sure the Rule is active by placing a check mark in the box next to the rule name.

Special note: If you are just looking to delete mail such as those marked with SPAM, there are instructions on this web page http://www.cwu.edu/~itstraining/TechTips/SpamRuleForWeb.html
