Email Changes
There are now three options available for you when replying to an email.
To select a preference,
- Click on GroupWise , Preferences , and under the General settings, go to the Default Actions tab.

The difference in the three is what appears before the original text: GroupWise classic puts the date in, Include Header puts in header information and Internet standard adds the > separator.
Previous versions of GroupWise did not allow for changing the font size of incoming emails. Often times this font was too small but now you can change it.
- Go to GroupWise , Preferences , and under the General settings, click on the General tab.

Under the Default Compose View & Font you can select which font you want to use when sending messages.
Under the Default Read View & Font you can select which font you want to use when receiving messages. You can also force messages to be viewed in Plain Text rather than HTML (many viruses travel in HTML emails).
Spell checking is back and under the Tools menu when you open a Compose, Reply, or Forward email. Or you can have GroupWise automatically check your spelling before you send an email.
To set this option,
- Go to GroupWise , Preferences and click on the General tab.
At the bottom is a checkbox to Spell check before send .
Note: Also in this area is a checkbox to Check Spelling as You Type . This function will underline unknown words in red as you type.
If either spell-checking option picks up on a word it doesn't know, you can bring up a list of suggestions or add the word to the known list.

Calendar Changes
If you've got an upcoming event you know will take all day or would like to mark your calendar with holidays, you can now do so more easily with the “All Day Event” option. GroupWise will even add another row to your calendar views just to display those items.
To schedule an All Day Event,
- Open a Posted Appointment window (or Meeting window if you are planning on sending this out to others),
- Fill in Subject, Date, Time and Place as usual.
- Check the All Day Event checkbox next to the Time field.
By default, these events will display as “free” on your calendar so people doing a busy search will not see the whole day blocked out.
In month view, GroupWise used to display all of your appointments, notes and tasks in a list for each day, and if there wasn't room, the whole row that day was on would expand. Now, just that day will expand once you park your mouse over it.

Account Management Changes
With the old GroupWise, if you wanted to archive something, you had to do so manually. Now you can set it up to archive automatically. You can also have GroupWise automatically delete older items.
- Click on GroupWise , Preferences and under the General settings, click on the Cleanup tab.

After selecting whether you want GroupWise to automatically archive or delete, set the number of days for it to do so.
They're baaaack.
Have GroupWise 6.5 and miss being able to set up that vacation rule? Well, GroupWise 7 has the Rules tool so it's no longer necessary to use gwweb (which has also been upgraded) or a PC. And the Rules tool is even better than it was in GroupWise 5.x.
- Click on Tools , Rules , then the New button to create a rule.

As with all rules, give your rule a name, select what will trigger the rule (i.e. an incoming email) with any conditions that apply, and finally what action will be performed.
If you want to have GroupWise filtered to display only certain items (i.e. all mail from your boss),
- Click on the two circles at the far right of the grey header bar and select Filter from the list (or Control + click to bring up the shortcut menu and select Filter from there)

Despite extensive efforts to reduce spam at the server level, we're still getting unwanted email in our mailboxes. The Junk Mail Handling tool is an additional step end users can take to reduce the amount of spam they get. Once the Junk Mail feature has been enabled you can block individual non-GroupWise emails or entire domains.
Note: The Junk Mail Folder will only become visible once the Junk Mail feature has been enabled.
To access the Junk Mail Handling feature,
- Click on Tools , Junk Mail Handling .

On the Settings tab,
- Click in the checkbox Enable Junk List to turn this feature on.
You can specify whether you want blocked email to automatically be deleted or moved to the Junk Mail Folder. You can even tell GroupWise to only accept emails from people already in your address books.
The Junk List tab is where you add either entire domains (i.e. “hotmail.com” or “yahoo.com”) or specific emails (i.e. gladenk@hotmail.com) to automatically go to your Junk Mail folder rather than your Mailbox.
The Block List tab is where you can tell GroupWise to completely block a domain or email address. These emails will never make it to your account.
What if you want to block most of a domain? For example, you have a couple of contacts with hotmail accounts but you want to block everyone else from that domain? The Trust List tab is where you can specify specific email accounts to be delivered even though you've blocked that domain.
To move or otherwise rearrange folders (like in your Cabinet),

- Move folders up or down in the list or make them child or parent folders.
Note: You can also sort folders alphabetically with a Control + click on the Cabinet and selecting Sort subfolders from the shortcut menu.
Rearrange From, Subject and Date columns with a drag and drop. Add, delete or rearrange columns with at Control + click on any of the column headers to bring up the shortcut menu and select More Columns .

The columns available are listed on the left and the columns you have showing are listed on the right. Use the appropriate buttons to add or remove columns. You can also adjust position and width.
