• How does the campus use technology to enhance teaching and learning in your areas of interest?
  
  Technology is an integral part of teaching and learning in nearly all areas of CWU today. Central supports the enterprise edition of Blackboard for Course Management, which is used in conjunction with traditional classes as well as for fully online (web) courses. In addition, a complete suite of software including Office tools and specialty applications are available on lab computers throughout campus, as well as specialized technology in department unique classrooms and laboratories. Tutorials for faculty are available through the MTIS Department, and students are required to enroll in a computer fundamentals course in their freshman or transfer year. • Is there technology in the classrooms?
  
  All of CWU's classrooms have some degree of technology, ranging from high speed Internet access only, to multi-media "Smart" classrooms with the latest interactive technology. Information on classroom technology is available at www.cwu.edu/~media. Central also supports interactive TV distance education applications. Tutorials for these systems are available through the MTIS Department. At CWU, we recognize the importance of technology and how it can benefit the learning experience.

• Will you use technology to collaborate with other students in both your introductory and advanced courses?
  
  Students will use a variety of technology tools and services to communicate with other students, faculty and staff. Many of these collaboration tools are built into technology such as the Blackboard Suite for online classes. Obviously, the more advanced courses, and the more technologically focused classes, will use technology for student interaction more than general courses. At CWU, however, technology is available to collaborate with peers in all aspects of your educational experience.

• Does the school give credit for courses taken online from other institutions and sources of instruction?
  
  CWU does not distinguish between whether a student earns credits through a class taught using distance education technology or traditionally face-to-face as long as the institution where the credit is received is a regionally accredited institution. There is; however, a minimum number of credits that a student must earn from CWU in order to graduate.

Support services

• Does the school have multimedia labs you can use to work on projects? Is there help available?
  
  Multimedia labs are available for pre-teacher professionals through the Educational Technology Center (ETC) in Black Hall. All students are welcome to utilize the resources in the ETC. In addition, students are encouraged to enroll in courses offered by the Information Technology and Administrative Management (ITAM) department which provides a wide array of technology courses ranging from network administration to web development.   CWU has numerous technological resources available to help students with disabilities. • Can the library deliver documents to you electronically, either via email, file transfer, or through Web posting?
  
  Documents, such as journal articles, borrowed from other libraries through interlibrary loan, can be emailed directly to the borrower. Other digitized documents, such as those in the University Archives, may be saved by users on their computers. There is no cost for this service. Looking toward graduation and a career

• Does the campus offer general or profession-specific training programs that will ensure you are fluent in current information technologies when you graduate?
  
  CWU recognizes that information technology is critical in nearly all professions today, and offers numerous general and profession-specific technology courses in numerous departments and programs across campus. These range from general technology offerings in the Information Technology & Administrative Management and Computer Science Programs, to vocation specific courses in many other programs across campus. At CWU, we realize that we are training the .Net generation, and offer the technology training that will prepare our graduates to be successful after graduation.
