The Wildcat Account and Password

Where It Works

Your Wildcat account and password work in the following areas:

NetWare, Windows Workstations, Wildcat Connection, Blackboard, Shared & Personal File System Space, GroupWise Email, GroupWise Messenger, PeopleSoft Self Service, VPN Connections, Safari, Wireless, NetStorage, Dial-in Modems, IP Host Registration, Creating Guest Wildcat Accounts, Connection Card Balance, eGuide, and Peregrine Self Service.

Don't Let It Expire!

By order of the university auditor and in compliance with good security measures, passwords must be changed on a regular basis. For students that means a new one every 180 days; staff must change theirs every 90 days.

Passwords will expire after that time period. IF YOUR PASSWORD HAS EXPIRED, YOU CANNOT LOG IN. This means you can't check e-mail, grades, etc; GroupWise, Safari, Network access will be denied to you if you let your password expire.

Password Etiquette

When changing your password, remember the following:

Your password must be 8 to 14 characters long and cannot contain any blanks or special characters. You can, however, pick a mixture of upper and lower case letters as well as numbers. You should pick a new password every time.

And most importantly about your password, DON'T GIVE IT OUT! Your password is your responsibility.

There are many ways to change your Wildcat password. This page provides instruction for the ways to do so. It does not matter what type of computer you have although for ease of use, we've broken it down to Campus Macs, Campus PC's, and off-campus access.

Special Notes: If you are a staff member and do not know your password or your password does not seem to be working, please call the ITS Help Desk at ext. 2001. The instructions for staff on this page assume you know your current password and just need to change it. Students can also use these instructions if they know their password but if they don't, they can use a special web site to change it rather than call the Help Desk. See the Students Only section of this page.
