Services for International Students: Ellensburg Washington

Back to Prospective Students

Ellensburg

The state of Washington is located in Pacific Northwest region of the United States, just north of Oregon and west of Idaho. Ellensburg is small, farming community located in the central part of the state of Washington. It’s surrounded by the foothills of the Cascade mountains and trimmed by the Yakima River. With a population of about 16,000 people, Ellensburg is what most people call “a friendly, university town.”

Although small, Ellensburg has a lot to offer. With its beautiful historic downtown and various festivals year round, there’s always something fun to do or see. Because it has four seasons, the Ellensburg area offers camping, hiking and river rafting in the summer, skiing, snowboarding and ice skating in the winter, and beautiful colors in the fall and spring. The frequent breeze keeps the scenic views clear and the air clean.

For those who enjoy larger cities, Seattle is less than two hours west by car. Other larger cities include Yakima to the south and Wenatchee to the north. Vancouver, B.C., Canada is a five-hour drive to the northwest and international students can easily return to the U.S. with a valid passport and travel signature.
