CWU Scholarships for International Students
Out of State Tuition Wavers

Financial assistance through academic excellence is available to Central Washington University (CWU) international students who have earned a minimum of 45 CWU credits. The Office of International Studies and Programs, upon recommendation of the International Studies and Programs Advisory Committee (ISPAC), offers partial tuition waivers to those students whose cumulative and quarterly GPA is 3.5 and above. Awards are based on the annual funding available for international tuition waivers and award amounts may vary.

All applications are reviewed by ISPAC based on spring quarter grades for the following academic year. Awards are made at the beginning of the fall quarter of the academic year. Awards are reviewed at the end of each academic quarter during the academic year and are continued based on eligible GPAs and tuition waiver money available in the current academic year.

Financial Need - There are a limited number of tuition waivers awarded based on financial need for those students who can demonstrate that their financial circumstances have changed significantly since the time of admission. To be considered for financial need you must have completed a minimum of 45 CWU credits with a minimum and cumulative and quarterly GPA of 3.5.

Mahajani International Scholar - Each year an international student of junior or senior standing is eligible to be named a Mahajani International Scholar. This is an honor bestowed upon an international student in memory of Dr. Usha Mahajani, who served as a professor of political science at Central Washington University from 1965 until her death in 1979. The Mahajani International Scholar is an international student who best reflects Dr. Usha Mahajani's enthusiastic commitment to academic excellence, intellectual development and community service. The Mahajani International Scholar receives $1,000, awarded at the beginning of fall quarter. At the end of spring quarter each academic year, faculty are invited to submit nominees for this honor. Students are also invited to apply directly.
